Is a Flocked Artificial Christmas Tree Messy?

Posted on August 8, 2022August 3, 2023

A flocked artificial Christmas tree makes a beautiful addition to the home, complementing any living space. The tree looks fabulous in a modern yet minimalist house when it has s simple form and color scheme.

You can find the flocked tree in different variations, from pre-lit to unlit to decorate with lights and other festive ornaments. In addition, you can fluff and shape it to your needs to create a winter wonderland in the home.

If you enjoy decorating your tree, you can color it with glass, silver, white, and other sparkling ornaments to make a statement. But one question remains is the flocked artificial Christmas tree messy?

Messy Or Not

If it is your first time investing in a flocked Christmas tree, the concern of creating a mess is the first thing that comes to your mind. So, when removing the tree from the box at the initial setup, it is not uncommon for the tree to shed some of the flocking material.

Still, it does depend on the amount of flocking on the tree. So, for example, buy a frosted tree with less flock compared to a heavily flocked one. Yet, it should not put you off buying the flocked tree of your dreams.

The flocked artificial Christmas tree remains a favorite to create a snowy winter wonderland inside your living space. To give you reassurance about your concerns, we will tell you what you can expect buying a flocked tree and how you can minimize the shedding during the setup.

First, you will not have to flock material floating around as it is not like using the flocking spray. The flock looks like fluff coating the branches to look like snow. You may only find it flying around when you remove it from the box for the first time.

Thankfully, it lessens each year, and knowing this is better than not knowing when making a purchase.

What To Do To Lessen The Mess

The vital thing to do is to clean as you set up the tree. Doing this clears more space and allows you to get your task done. Once you set up your flocked artificial Christmas tree, you still need to fluff it to give it the shape it needs.

Fluffing and shaping will give your tree a fuller look, and cleaning up as you go helps to lessen the mess. When opening the box, we recommend removing the stand and placing it on your disposable mat.

Doing this helps when you remove the tree to allow the flocking material to fall on the mat. Also, ensure that no fans are running nearby as it can spread the flocking, making cleaning time-consuming.

If you are concerned that the flocking material will spread through the home, it helps to do this without children and pets.

Setting up your flocked artificial Christmas tree in a confined space prevents a colossal mess. It also helps to wear old clothes that are not synthetic or has fleece. The reason is that the flocking material can stick to the fabric when fluffing your tree. So while the tree is a bit messy when set up, you can prevent this by cleaning as you go.
